HDTC celebrated its Fiftieth Anniversary back in 2004--fifty years
as a non-profit organization teaching both pet and competition
obedience classes and dedicated to improving the relationship
between dogs and their owners. The club also provides agility
classes; holds annual obedience and agility trials; has member
events such as parties and picnics; participates in parades,
demonstrations, and local fairs; and is involved in therapy or
educational visits to nursing homes, hospices, and schools.
Many
years ago we taught classes in local school buildings or in the National Guard Armory,
holding
classes just once a week. Now, in our own building, we are holding
classes 4 or 5 nights a week, with some special events on
weekends.
HDTC
has a large, experienced, volunteer staff of individuals who are
all dedicated to providing excellent instruction. All of our
instructors not only teach others, but attend training classes
and seminars themselves, and train and exhibit their own dogs in
obedience, conformation, agility, and other performance events.
