All
classes are in 8-week sessions.
Beginners'
Agility
Using positive, step-by-step methods, this class will introduce
the dog to all agility equipment: contact obstacles, tunnels and
chutes, jumps, and weave poles, and will start sequencing
obstacles. Students will also work on jump circles and
targeting. Specific handling techniques such as: post turns,
crossing turns, lead-outs, and lead-out pivots will be started.
Intermediate
Agility
Students will continue to work with dogs on agility obstacles;
improving speed, distance, handling techniques, and confidence
of both dog and handler. Front crosses, blind crosses, obstacle
discrimination, blocking, and magneting will be covered and the
class will culminate in a fun Agility Relay Race!
Novice
Competition Agility
This class will prepare the handler and dog for Novice level
agility competition. Handling techniques will be perfected and
new ones introduced, including tandem turns and reverse flow
pivots.
Specialized
Agility Classes
Special classes covering more specific areas are offered at various
times: weave poles, handling techniques, and other topics may be
scheduled.
All
agility classes require graduation from our Level 1 and Level 2
obedience classes or demonstrated proficiency of foundational
training and a dog who is under off-leash control and well
behaved around other dogs.
